It Simply Had to be Done

The man who, at age 55, could once out sprint me at age 15, now shuffled along side me on 86 year old legs among the stone and brick icons of this historic metropolis. Meanwhile, his bride of 63 years flitted down the sidewalk ahead of us, bouncing like a sparrow, her gaze rarely resting on one thing for more than a few seconds, not wanting to miss a single detail in a place she'd waited a lifetime to visit.

You Can go home again

I recently had the opportunity to accompany my 86 year old father in law on a walk over the grounds of his boyhood home in Merriam, KS. The property where his parent's built their house in 1923, encompasses a little over 2 acres.

Looks like he made it

While not exactly equivalent to Lance Armstrong climbing Mount Ventoux, I can at least claim that I started at a higher elevation than the summit of the famed climb and ended at 10,300 feet.
